SME Solar is written and edited by Gareth Isherwood, an independent UK publisher. It is a one-person editorial project, not an installer, a broker, or a lead-generation business. Everything here is written in-house — there are no ghost-written vendor articles and no pay-to-feature guides.

Commercial solar is full of numbers that get quietly rounded in the buyer's disfavour. Our job is to source the real ones. Where we state a figure, it traces to a named authority — Ofgem's non-domestic benchmarks, MCS standards, the Smart Export Guarantee rates published by licensed suppliers, HMRC capital-allowance rules, and manufacturer datasheets.

When something is genuinely contested — payback assumptions, battery economics, degradation rates — we say so rather than pick the flattering number. Guides carry a published date and are revised as rates and rules change.

We don't install panels, employ engineers, or take a margin on installs. We don't run a quote-comparison marketplace, and we don't sell your details to a network of installers. When you're ready for an actual quote you choose an installer yourself. The decision and the contract are always yours.
